Debit Cards

An Asheville Savings Bank Debit Card lets you pay for your everyday purchases from your Business account, without the hassles of writing checks. The card is welcomed anywhere you see the MasterCard® logo.

Additional benefits:

  • No annual fee
  • Make withdrawals, transfers, and get account information at any Asheville Savings Bank ATM
  • Access your money at any ATM worldwide that display the MasterCard® or NYCE® logos
  • Pay bills at any business or service provider that accepts MasterCard Debit Cards
  • If your card is ever lost, stolen, or used without your authorization, tell us at once and you are protected from unauthorized use*

*In most cases you will not be liable for any unauthorized use of your lost or stolen Debit Card provided you notify us within two business days. This limit does not apply to transactions using your Personal Identification Number (PIN). See our account agreement for full details about limits on your liability.

Fraud

If you are experiencing difficulty using your Debit Card or if a merchant has notified you that your card is not active, contact one of our Banking Centers during business hours to determine the status of your card. Your card may have been deactivated because we suspect unauthorized transactions may have or could occur.

  • Debit  cards are a frequent target for fraud. Asheville Savings Bank is committed to using state of the art technology to protect against unauthorized use of your Debit Card. Our Fraud Alert Management Center™ fraud detection system is working to protect you 24/7.  If fraud is suspected, the Fraud Alert Management Center may call to verify suspicious transactions with you. Therefore, it is important you have provided us with your current phone number and address. Contact any Asheville Savings Bank Banking Center  to update your cell, home, and/or business phone numbers.  If the purchase is fraudulent, your card number will be cancelled immediately.

 If you need to return a call to the Fraud Alert Management Center, please call 1.800.830.1925.

  • Your Asheville Savings Bank Debit Card activity is monitored electronically for abnormal usage patterns and potentially fraudulent transactions. When the probability of fraud is high, your card may be deactivated until we have the opportunity to reach you. When a card is deactivated, we will attempt to contact you by phone. You may reactivate your card by calling us during our business hours at 1.800.222.3230.

Compromised Cards

For the protection of Asheville Savings Bank customers, we may deactivate Debit Cards when we receive information from MasterCard that Asheville Savings Bank card numbers have been compromised. This means that unauthorized individuals may have access to these card numbers and there is potential for fraudulent transactions using these cards. Card numbers may be compromised during the processing of merchant transactions, not by Asheville Savings Bank. If your card is deactivated, we will notify you by phone or mail and automatically order a replacement card and PIN which will be mailed to the address we have on file for your account.

Please contact any of our Banking Centers if you have additional questions or concerns regarding your Asheville Savings Bank Debit Card.

Here's how you can protect your money:

  • We will never contact you by email or phone to request your account number or PIN number. Please do not reply to any email that appears to be from Asheville Savings Bank requesting this type of information.
  • Please respond immediately to requests for confirmation of suspicious transactions.
  • Provide us with your current phone number and address. Contact any Asheville Savings Bank Banking Center to update your cell, home, and/or business phone numbers.

**Important Traveling Tips

  • Notify Asheville Savings Bank of domestic and/or international travels
  • Inquire about potential international fraud blocks before you travel*
  • Test your card to confirm that you have the valid PIN
  • Verify that your card will not expire while traveling
  • Carry alternative payment methods (i.e. additional debit/credit cards)
  • Do not pack all payment methods together (i.e. one in a suitcase, another in a purse or wallet)
  • Remain observant for pick pockets
  • Photocopy all cards front and back and keep copies on hand
  • Keep Asheville Savings Bank contact numbers, 800.222.3230 (during business hours) or 800.236.2442 (after hours).
